LIGHTUP
Project description
"There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception"
(A. Huxley)
Neuroscience and neuropsychology is replete with examples of processes that occur without or outside conscious perception. Our Lab tries to understand the neuronal bases of visual perception in the absence of awareness. We are particularly interested in emotion processing, as emotions can impact on our daily behavior and orient our responses even when we are unaware of the triggering causes. We combine multiple methodologies, from neuroimaging to phychophysics and computational modelling, especially in relation to neuropsychological patients with focal brain damage to the visual cortex and 'blindsight', or with attentional deficits and hemispatial neglect.
